Also a Microsoft Security Essentials scan of the users folder found Trojan:Win32\Tracur.AV and removed it. That's good news

I forgot to check Firefox add-ons and printer helper was back. I removed it and the redirect problem in Firefox was gone. I don't know why Chrome had the problem. I uninstalled it. Reinstalled and the problem came back in Chrome. Internet Explorer doesn't redirect. Firefox doesn't if printer helper is not present. So that's it, I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens.

It seems it only affects Google searches. This doesn't seem too serious but I guess it means something is on my computer that does it.

The redirect on google search. Links in a search are randomly redirected to a site that is not the site on the link.

The problem is back today. My laptop had FBI Moneypack virus today. I don't know if that causes the same problem or it's the old problem. I did get the Moneypack virus stopped and can use my laptop. Malwarebytes scans show no malware. I know today being Thanksgiving isn't the best day, but I'll check back tomorrow.

I hadn't tried Google Chrome which i also have on my pc. It was redirecting all Google search links. I uninstalled Chrome and downloaded and reinstalled and it seems to be ok, I hope it stays that way.

Hi again. I just tried Google Chrome, I haven't used it for a while. Every link in a Google search in the Chrome Browser is redirected to the wrong page.

It seems good. I haven't had a redirect of a Google link since I deleted the Firefox add-on. It looks like JRT removed more junk. I think it's ok now. Thanks for your patience and help.

I read where removing a FF add-on stopped the problem. I saw a FF add-on called print helper on my browser which I did not add. A internet search for the add-on found nothing so I removed it. After about 30 clicks on Google I haven't been redirected yet. I'll keep trying and see what happens.

Tried IE, after clicking about 25 links nothing happened, I went back to Firefox and after the third link it re-directed

I ran Combo Fix. I cannot run any program on my pc after restart. Message pop up "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion. I'm relplying on my Droid X because my browser on my pc is one of the programs that won't open. It appears no program will open.

Hi, I ran a Malware Bytes scan and trojan.happili showed up. I deleted it and I still get redirects in Google using Firefox 16.0.2. I followed directions on a site and I replaced the host file with a backup but I still get redirects. How do I remove the problem?

I think so, I haven't had any redirects in Firefox, IE or Chrome since removing the last virus.
