  1. hi maniac, thanks for your suggestion. panda usb vaccine works well with my uninfected external hdd, but it does not recognise my infected/problem external hdd... i'll post this on the pc help board later. thanks so much!
  2. hello maniac, thanks so much for that. I am going to format the pc when i get the chance. really busy at the moment. a few questions; is there any way i can salvage the faulty external hdd? and how? i have two physical drives; a 128 gb ssd and a 1 tb sata. could BOTH be compromised or just the 128 gb (c:/)? thanks...
  3. hello maniac and thanks for the reply. new development; on a whim, i removed one of my external hdds (a seagate 2tb usb 3.0), and all my problems disappeared. i ran a malwarebytes scan, and the following things came up: backdoor agent. my pc runs smoothly without the us external plugged in, it's just that i had a heap of stuff saved on that external! when i plug the seagate back in, no anti-virus/anti-malware programs work. once i unplug, back to normal. can't get any scans of the external done, any suggestions? thanks...
  4. Hello forum, i think i've been infected. my new(ish) pc is slowing down dramatically and things aren't working as they should. firstly, i can't open new tabs, and if i have multiple tabs open (from 'open in new window'), i can't close. MBAW won't load (the blue circle keeps going round then it disappears). In chameleon mode, the database doesn't load (waited 45 minutes last time with no luck). when i cut and paste files, it doesn't show the files have been moved (folders remain) until i press refresh. some programs won't shut down, even with task manager. and even now, dds won't make a script for me! it's been over ten minutes already... can anyone help me??? thanks...
