Yikes! That was a job !!! My equipment is on the other side of the room and cords wouldn't reach. Had to move them all to the center of the floor so I could get enough reach for the Ethernet cable, lol. After all that I am saddened to say it did no good. Still got redirect attempts so switched everything back.

Don't know why I had double posts, my apologies. Did you have any other ideas for me? If you still want, I will try bypassing the router. I just thought since I reset it to factory and started over it wouldn't matter. It still did the same thing. Was I wrong? I'm not sure where to go from here either; aside from reinstalling the OS.

Hi Charlie. I am back up and running. Wanted to touch base with you before running OTL again. I have replaced my graphics card and updated drivers etc. Last time I tried to do the script in OTL it kept locking up my computer and I had to do hard shut downs, every time. It just would not finish. It was like it locked up immediately. I copied the script exactly each time with the same result. Can I get rid of all the files and the program and start it over with a fresh download of it? If so how do I go about getting rid of it and any files it left behind? Also, when we ran RK it left a quarantine folder on my desktop. What should I do with that? I can see the files inside it. Thanks.

I haven't done anything yet. M|Seems my graphics card may have went out again. Had computer on, went out into the other room and back to computer about 30 minutes later and screen was black. Just get a slight fan startup for a second and then nothing. So looks like I cannot do anything else for a while. I am pretty irritated with these computers about right now!. Last graphic card warranty replacement took two weeks Sorry, I will get back with you soon as possible.

Thanks for waiting. I read the info at the link you provided above and it appears I cannot remove IE8 without removing SP3 first. I went into Add/Remove Programs and IE8 does not have any place to click to remove it. I do not recall installing IE8 before installing Service Pack 3 but it must have happened when I had to replace my MB a couple years ago. Do you recommend removing SP3? If I recall that thing is huge. If I have to do this wont I also then have to re-download ALL updates I applied since?? I think I am going to be getting a headache.

I cannot even find that link. Think that was when I was doing the laptop and when I removed all FF files I lost the bookmark. I have been to so many places and just don't recall the name of the forum. The initial replies were regular maintenance type things if I recall. Then I got no replies for a while and now cannot find a way back to the site. I don't really know what else to do - I have cleared all history etc that could lead me back to it.

By run, do you mean start the whole original scan over? I took it as not that way, just to follow instructions above. I tried it by double clicking the exe and then Run and when the program opened I pasted in the above text and hit Run Fix and it hung, 3 seperate times. Said it was "killing processes ... DO NOT INTERRUPT" but it wouldn't go any further even after 45 minutes the last time. Locked my whole system up and had to do a hard shut down each time. I don't think I want to do any more hard shut downs. (All my security was off, just so you know). Should I go ahead with the next step?

No, loosing power doesn't reset router to default thanks goodness! Using FF and it is just redirect "attempts", FF is blocking them. As I said before, I can never find out where it is attempting to redirect to because it lands me on the page I should be on ... at least so far as I can tell it looks right. But on some pages FF says it blocks redirect attempts and even when that option was turned off it still looked as if it was taking me to the correct page (just showing a lot of different activity in the area where it shows what the page is doing, bottom left of browser) so I don't know if the whole site was fradulant or if it is simply nothing to worry about at all. I am very confused by all this. Sorry if I am not explaining any of this efficiently.

Hello. I reset the router. THAT was not quite as terrible as I thought it would be, lol ! I also reset ALL router info, passkeys etc. However, I am still getting redirect attempts. Yes, I have lost power numerous times. I am rual and it is a normal occurance around here. When power comes back on router alaways worked and always had a connection so long as the cable co was not down. Sorry it took so long to get back on here ... cable was down nearly all day yesterday.

Okay Mr.C ... since I will be on my own for this one, and "I know not what I do", lol, I need to do some research on how to go about getting this done; the right way. It may take me a day or two depending on "when I can get access to reset the laptop". I am not looking forward to this so I hope it is easier to do than my worried old mind is leading me to believe it will be. I'll get back with you as soon as possible.
