That youtube man was really helpful telling exactly where to look and so was McAfee.. I'm just the old woman with my face to the windscreen. White knuckle fist around the steering wheel. I also scanned the file I had gotten that nif from and also opened it and scanned the contents too and nothing was found. -

Ok so how did this happen? Nif files don't do anything.. Is this virus so stupid to attach to something that doesn't actually do anything? -

Started here : https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/156095-malwarebytes-found-something-in-a-nif-file-that-was-in-the-trash/ Reposting: I then found a youtube and McAfee and checked my registry and the windows file and msconfig and NOTHING was there. None of the changes listed in the two helps I found are on my computer. I have attached the scan log I had Malwarebytes copy to my clipboard. If you tell me how to find and attach the quaranteened nif I will do that too. malwarebytes.txt

I do think it is a false positive and the link you just posted is not a place to report anything. It seems you are determined that I have this virus when I do not. I checked the registry and the windows folder "Updater" NOTHING is there. I'm not sure how else I can say this. You have linked me to a registry to list new viruses..-smh

i'm just having a hard time believing that a nif file was infected with something.. I had it copy to clipboard so that I could show you. In following the directions here: and here http://home.mcafee.com/virusinfo/virusprofile.aspx?key=579309#none I don't see any of the changes that are listed. malwarebytes.txt

Firefox: That did not work and I have dsl -Hard wired to the phone line with wifi enabled.. PC is hard wired to the internet.. 1PW: I did clean removal without turning off my AV, which is Webroot , Reinstalled Malwarebytes , It now seems to be zipping along and it will rightclick and scan.. Not sure what happened there but it seems fixed now.. Thanks. I scan with Webroot, Windows defender (which comes with windows 7) and Malwarebytes about 3 times a day , every day that this PC is on. I also scan everything I download with Webroot and Malwarebytes.. I also make use of Virus Total.. Thanks
