  1. Haha, I'm still lurking around here and got the notification. Had to check in, that post was from 2009! Amazingly, I just replaced that computer two weeks ago. But the ISUSPM issue was very long behind me, thanks to all the help back then. -Kalimba
  2. oops, not true, it was in quarantine so I restored it.
  3. it didn't give me the option to quarantine, just remove or ignore, so I removed it. Do you think it will cause me a problem that I removed the file?
  4. Hi - When I go to "add and remove programs", I see that I have Microsoft Net Framework 1.1 Microsoft Net Framework 1.1 hotfix Both of these are not listed with a size I also have Microsoft Net Framework 2.0 SP2 Microsoft Net Framework 3.0 SP2 And the newest edition Microsoft Net Framework 3.5 SP1, which I just installed as I was getting Net Broadcast event program shut down errors, so I'm hoping this will solve that problem. This version is much smaller in size than the 2 listed above. My question, however, is... would it be prudent to remove any or all of these earlier versions? Can they ca
  5. Hi - I'm having the same issue. After I did a complete recovery on my system a few weeks ago, I reloaded Malwarebytes and set it up to update and scan daily at 10pm and 11pm. However, it hasn't done that. My taskscheduler is set to automatic as well. I went to control panel - scheduled tasks - and the whole field is blank. So I went to the add task wizard, and found Malwarebytes, however, I'm not sure what to choose - once daily? When computer starts? How to differenciate between the update and the scan? I've never had to manually add a scheduled task, so I'm confused about this. Or maybe you
  6. Oh my, I sure wish I had known this. I've suddenly had this problem for two days. Tonight it happened again and again, so, since it's my only computer, I finally did a complete recovery. Oh well. So what do I do now? Change my antivirus to Avira?
  7. Hi Mieke - Well, after getting all my work done today, I figured I would reboot and uninstall trend micro, as you said. However, when I rebooted, 2 times in a row, my screen completely froze. I went into safe mode and tried to uninstall trend micro, it wouldn't do it, then when I restarted, screen froze again. So, I did a complete recovery. I figured it was a lost cause. Now I logged in and found this post in the general mbam forum- I must say I am not thrilled. In hindsight, I should have kept trying to reboot until I got a staggered boot-up. So... your advice was sound, but I wish I had know
  8. One quick question - In my trend micro quarantine, there is one file that refuses to delete. It's called figaro.sys and its in windows system32.dllcache what will happen to that file if I uninstall trend micro? thanks!
  9. Hi Mieke - Thanks for the reply. I have been using Trend Micro for 3 years on this computer without any problem at all. I'm willing to try it, but don't you think that if an update caused this problem, my first system restore would have solved this? If I uninstall Trend micro, should I put in avira right away? Don't want to run naked, haha. You don't think it could be a hidden rootkit issue, or something odd like that? Thanks again for your help, you're the best. -kali
  10. Hi Mieki - Well, my computer continues to act not right. Often, upon boot up, it hangs on the first thing I click on, and then the computer won't do anything and I have to push the power button to turn off. Usually mbam shuts off 8 seconds into the scan. I tried reloading it, and it wouldn't reload, until I changed its name. Then, when it said to restart computer, the computer just hung in the welcome screen, so I went into safe mode and did a system restore, and things open again, but as described above. Often, even if things are working fine, when I choose "shut down," the "shut down box" va
  11. Thanks for checking. Things seem to be okay now. Last night, out of nowhere (but upon bootup), when I tried to open Opera browser, my computer would just hang until I had to do a forced shutdown. After 3 times, I did a system restore, same problem persisted. I ran all my scanners, nothing was found, but superantispyware would auto shut down after about 6 seconds. After I updated it, it ran fine, but still found nothing. Nothing was found in any scans. The whole time, my computer seemed to be running hard, with a lot of fan action. When I tried to shut down, (after sys restore and updating and

  13. Hi All - Not sure if this is where I should post this. I recently dealt with a virus on these boards, and my computer is nice and clean. I decided to delete all my quarantined trojan files that are sitting in Trend Micro. Some have been sitting there for a long time, and there were about 16 files. One, dating back to 11/08, will not delete. It says the file is either in use or locked. It is C:\\windows\system32\dllcache\figaro.sys I didn't want to try to "clean" it, I just left it there since it's been fine there. But I would prefer to delete it. Any ideas? Thanks ! -Kali
  14. Hey guys - Thanks for the help - got rid of a virus here - I bought MBAM and it's awesome, running along my trend-micro, so far so good. I'm becoming addicted to reading this forum - everybody else's problems - My question is - are these virus busters volunteers or do you guys get paid by MBAM? I notice that different people have you send files to different places for analysis - do some of these folks work for other companies in this field? Do these people work at several sites? I'm just mystified as to the motivation of the helpers - surely it's not purely altruistic. Just curious, as I fi
  15. I uncheck isuspm in my startup items but it keeps returning checked and running. Is there any danger in running hijack this and checking off O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iSUSPM Startup] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\UPDATE~1\ISUSPM.exe -startup to get rid of this? Thanks !
