  1. Basically just quick question as to whether these two will play nice together - and if they are possibly complimentary ? And by complimentary, I mean (if I understand correctly) NoScript is primarily designed to give control over blocking or allowing scripts to run on a site - whilst Browser Guard is designed to check that sites reputation / safety. So they would act as two layers of defense in a sense ? So for example Browser Guard will help me to determine if a site is safe as a whole first - which will then make it easier to know if allowing scrips to run with NoScript on that site is also safe. Thank you.
  2. Dear Malwarebytes team, please, please, please increase the maximum allowed auto update frequency time from it's current allowed maximum of 6 hours to 24 hours or even 48 hours. So we have the option to use a longer interval auto update frequency if needed. Many of us need you to do this as the operational data cost of Malwarebytes on Android has increased now. I understand that the recent large date consumption bug has since been fixed, and that is great. But the app does have a higher data consumption now, even with it running normally. I have watched the app for about 3 weeks now. And I can confirm it's database and app version has been up to date the whole time. However it's data usage with every database check is around and average of 100MB, regardless of whether it actually downloads a revision to the database. Now this is fine, I completely understand that some apps are just going to use more data to operate that others, that's perfectly understandable. However for some users that have lower data plans and can't always just supplement it with wifi, this average 100MB can add up quick. For example, i'm on a 20GB plan. So for me 100MB every 6 hrs = 400MB a day - and 400MB x 28 days in a month (average) = 11.2GB. So that's already half of my data plan used just to ping the Malwarebytes servers to check for updates. So this means that if I want to use the app - which I do, because i've always found Malwarebytes to be the most reliable for detection and prevention - the only way I can feasibly do so now is to just disable auto updates entirely, and hope that I remember to manually update it occasionally myself - which kinda defeats the point really. So yea, an option for a longer auto update frequency time would make a big difference for many of us on lower data plans. Please, please consider adding such an option. Thank you.
  3. Because THIS post's wording makes it sound like the issue has been fixed, saying that the issue has has been "resolved" as of June 6th and "We have taken steps to make sure this doesn't happen in the future". Yet my version id is still 3.14.0.83 - and there are no new updates available on the play store - and i'm still seeing high data usage. So has there been a patch for the issue, and i'm just not seeing it on the play store yet ? Thank you.
  4. [Topic Solved] Issue hasn't returned. Would add "Solved" to thread title, but can't seem to edit my post for some reason.
  5. Ok, I did a clean and reinstall as directed in the clean removal process. And thankfully it appears as though this seems to have sorted the issue. Malicious Website Blocking now comes on automatically and stays on. Thank you so much, so glad to have Mbam back to full protection. I've had Mbam on pretty much every single system i've owned since early releases, and it has saved me from all sorts of nastys so many times in the past. However due tot he intermittent nature of the issue as I was experiencing it somewhat intermittently between reboots. I would ask that this thread be left open for at least 7 days, just encase the issue returns. If after 7 days theres no further posts, then feel free to close the thread, and / or I will try to remember to mark it as solved. Thank you
  6. Hi, just the other day I noticed that i can no longer enable malicious website blocking in MBAM. When I click to turn it on from the task bar or from withing MBAM settings it just turns it's self off immediately. I'm here to ask if any MBAM modules or services have any dependencies on the following: -COM+ Event System [EventSystem] -Diagnostic Service Host [WdiServiceHost] -Function Discovery Provider Host [fdPHost] -Network Store Interface Service [nsi] -Network List Service [netprofm] -WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service [WinHttpAutoProxySvc] -Windows Front Cache Service [FrontCache] All of witch are found in "Path: C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe (LocalService)" The reason I ask is because recently I was restarting each one of these services in turn from the services.msc list in windows. When I was doing so some of the services listed restarted ok, but many of them could not restart because of dependencies on other services that were denying access to a restart. I've since learned that this is normal, and I should have not restarted any of those services from services.msc while the system was running. So now I fear I may have messed up something in my system or something to do with how MBAM operates, because even since restating those services the malicious website blocking feature in MBAM cannot be turned on. :( My MBAM is a Licensed Permium Home version. At this time I doubt that any malware or virus is responsible for this, I just think that I may have broken something and would really apprentice any help that support can give. Thank you.
  7. It's ok, I think i'm just going to stay on 2.1.4 for now, and skip this update, and try the next one. As been using mbam since 2013, and now I think about it, I do recall at least two other times when a particular program update or the jump from v1 to v2 had issues such as this. I just postponed the program update until the next one, and the issue usually resolved it's self. I did a whole bunch of 3rd party scans though just to make sure nothing else was at fault. Hitmapro, aswmbr, tdsskiller, eset onlinescanner, ccleaner, hijackthis, avg free scan, pandaonline scan and others too. Everything came back clean. If I have any further issues, or the issue returns or persists past the next program update, then I will post back here. Thanks again for the help, sorry if wasted anyone's time. Out of interest, when is the next program update due ?
  8. Hello dale, yes sorry for lack of clarity in describing the issue. Basically it is a application crash then BSOD if app is not closed quickly. I will try to describe it blow by blow, since it happened pretty much the same way each time. So install 2.1.6. = Navigating application is stable, and editing settings is stable. But if I initiate a normal (threat) scan either manually or by scheduled scan the application will crash with a windows error message box appearing saying "malwarebytes anti-malware has stopped working"... "close program ?" At this point if I click "close program" then mbam.exe process will close, but leave mbamscheduler.exe & mbamservice.exe running. But If however when the "malwarebytes anti-malware has stopped working" error box comes up and I don't click "close program" quickly enough and just leave it for 10 secs, then a BSOD will eventually occur. So as long as I just click close program, then there's no BSOD. So it's not like a random BSOD or anything, it's just actually the app crash not being dealt with quickly enough that will eventually lead to BSOD. Apart from that, the actual application seemed stable enough. I could even do manual single item scans, like eg right click on a file and click "Scan with malwarebytes anti-malware" and it would be fine. Also I could do updates just fine too. The only time the application would crash was when running a normal threat scan. On 2.1.4 currently, application is fine, no crash during scans, stable, no BSOD. (done multiple scans). I think maybe 2.1.6 just doesn't like my system I'm not the most tech savvy to be honest. So this just might be a update I might skip, and just do another clean install when then next program update is released. As it seems like I can still get definition updates even with a out of date program version. But thank you for sticking with me on this, very much appreciate your help 042815-11247-01.zip CheckResults.txt
  9. With those diagnostic logs, do I need to have the program version that is having the issues installed at the time the diagnostic logs are generated (ie ver2.1.6) in order to properly diagnose what the issues may be ? If so, then I am not sure, as I just barely got 2.1.4 back up and working after the last roll back from 2.1.6. And since testing the 2.1.6 issues causes bluescreens, i'm am understandably very reluctant to got back 2.1.6 for further testing. But I do have some minidump files from the testing I have done previously if that is any use ? Thanks.
  10. Hi, i'm currently on 2.1.4.1018 and tried updating to the new 2.1.6 program update 3 or 4 times now, with normal overwrite update and also clean update with mbam-clean. Each time the update breaks mbam. It cause's the mbam application to crash when do a scan. And each time I have to revert back to 2.1.4 to get things working again. I don't mind staying on 2.1.4 for the time being untill the issue is resolved. However there are two things I would like to know: 1) How can I stop mbam constantly bring up the notification box: "A new version of malwarebytes anti-malware is ready to be installed" "Install now ?". Because it's poping up even when running a game in fullscreen, and it's quite annoying. 2) Please tell me that the devs are aware of this issue with 2.1.6 and that they are working on sorting it, as that would definitely give me peace of mind, while I stay on 2.1.4 for the time being. Thanks.
  11. Ahh i see, sry my bad, i misunderstood. So the domain platformines.com contains nothing malicious, (which explains how so many people were able to access it with apparently no ill effects.) however the IP is one used by other domains that constitute the 92 instances of malware. Ok i get it now. So this then may just be a case of the dev team behind the game, being unaware of history of the IP they use for the platformines game site.
  12. Thx MysteryFCM. I'm thinking that this is both odd and serious. As there have been at least 3 major video games news sites that have linked directly to this site (http://www.platformines.com/), and thousands of people that have probably access it and even downloaded the beta of the game from it. I have to say i'm surprised that the site has not been taken down, if it contains that much malicious content. Anyway, thank you for the prompt replys, much appreciated. I'll try to email / contact rock paper shotgun, along with the other news sites, and pass on this info.
  13. Sorry you'll have to forgive me, but i'm unfamiliar with "OVH" ? - is this the host ? Also whats your source for the "92 instances of malicious content" ? as if thats the case, there are a few friends i would like to pass this on to. Thx
  14. The site in question is: http://www.platformines.com/ ========================== Malwarebytes has successfully blocked access to a potentially malicious website: 213.186.33.87 Type: outgoing Port: 61539, Process: firefox.exe ========================== This site i thought to be safe, as i've visited it before. My understanding of the criteria for blocked sites by MBAM, is if they are proven malicious. So is it just the case that this site has been hijacked since i last visited it, or is it just a false positive ? or is it just sharing an similar IP with one known to be malicious ? Cheers.
  15. Ahh i see. Wondered why there was no option to stop the service in services.msc. I'm currently using the trial version (which i have to say i was glad to see how easy it was to hop into the trial version with no messing around, one click and the trail starts, done.) I assume that MBAM just cuts off the protection module when the trial ends. Out of interest what anti-virus do you use exile ?
  16. Thanks for the replys. I haven't been able to get all the scan options & autostart thing working in gmer, but gmer reports that "no system modifications were found" so i guess thats all that matters. On a side not, when you exit the MBAM real time protection module, i noticed that the mbamservice.exe still remains active/running is that normal ?
  17. How is the MBAM Pro with games, as i've always had problems with on access scanning modules causing slowdowns or conflicts with games in the past.
  18. Hi, I'm a long time user of MBAM, but first time poster. I was directed here by a friend, as a possible place i could get some questions answered about the GMER RootKIt detector, since the gmer site doesn't seem to have a forum, and the FAQ is abit limited. Hopefully it is ok to ask here ? 1) When i go the Rootkit/malware tab, many of the options/check boxes on the right hand side of the program window are grayed out, and cannot be selected for use with a scan. Is this normal ? and is there a way to activate them / do i need to activate them ? 2) When i go to the Autostart tab, and click Scan, nothing happens, even when i check the "show all" check box. Is there fix for this ? 3) The gmer site mentions "showing all NTFS Streams" by selecting only the Files + ADS + Show all options in the Rootkit/malware tab and clicking scan. What is "showing all NTFS Streams" ? and do i need to perform this scan method as well as the default scan (eg Selecting Services + Registry + Files + ADS) in order to find all threats ? 4) Occasionally when i perform a "show all NTFS Streams" scan by using the scan method outlined above. Gmer with find this result: C:\Users\usernamehere\AppData\Local\Temp\flaXXXX.tmp (where XXXX's are random numbers & letters) Is this anything to be concerned about ? 5) What dose the ADS scan option do / stand for ? 6) And finally, would you say GMER is a good anti-rootkit tool to use ? (i also use tdsskiller) and are there any other anti-rootkit tools i should use aswell, or is tdsskiller & gmer enough for an average user like me ? PS - also i'm thinking of purchasing the MBAM Pro version, but i wanted to know is the real time protection module just for malicious websites, or is like an actual on execution scanner, eg it's looks at new processes that start and all .exe's that you activate. Thanks in advance. Cale.
