Okay, I've figured out how to use the viewer, what should I be looking for in it? -

Can you post a copy of the 7 one? That link looks a bit odd. -
Black screen on start up?
Deeter replied to Deeter's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
How do you view the events logs? Okay, I found that. Where in it should I look? I don't know how to use this thing. -
I was getting this black screen with a curson in the middle of it on start up. I was not able to get to the log in screen. After a few times of this I started pressing buttons randomly. Then the log in screen suddenly appeared. When it finally did I was fiddling with the F buttons and the print screen, scroll lock, and pause/break buttons. Could MBAM have anything to do with this?

How do you see what is taking up your hard drive?
Deeter replied to Deeter's topic in General Windows PC Help
Actually, now that I think about it I should have, maybe, 50 to 60 more gigabytes. -
It seems that I am missing 20 to 30 gigabytes, from my estimates, of space somehow. I cannot figure out why or what is taking up so much space.

I thought I'd warn people about this. Some times after disconnecting from the net Kaspserky PURE 3.0 will crash (and Internet security 2013 will too if I recall correctly). I have replicated this behavior many times, and even after total reinstillation of the OS from scratch. It will crash, and it won't restart without restarting the computer. Also, the Kaspersky crash reporter will not send the report. It will either fail entirely, or will freeze at something like 90% sent and will not recover to finish sending the report. This has happened both with and without MB pro installed. It is not an issue with MB pro.

I was told to post this here. Various problems...

Well, crap. I haven't read any of your posts. I tried using Kaspersky's customer support. They told me to use the KAS remover tool, the tool wasn't designed to remove PURE 3.0, it's not even on the list on the tool, and so I was stuck not being able to remove it fully and not being able to install it again. So I did a full system reload. One problem though, when I was updating some of the updates failed, I think because I disconnected from the net after they were finished downloading but before they were done being installed. Apparently you have to stay connected through the install procedure. All but one ended up being installed eventually. Those that were installed have a listing as failed and a second as successful. But one "Cumulative Security Update for ActiveX Killbits for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2618451)" was not installed. It only has a failed listing. Is that because something else superseded it? Or do I need to reload everything again? I cannot get it to allow me to retry the installation again. -

And it just shut down again just after disconnecting from the net. The previous application launch failure reporter thing still does not work. -

Then please do not ask me to run my PC on the net while my AV is turned off and we should not have problems. And... Kaspersky pure 3.0 just shut down AGAIN, on its own with no provocation or warning while not connected to the net. And now I have a previous launch failure noticed that wants me to send a report to Kaspersky but it can't because it can't connect to the server for whatever reason. Blah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I did remove MBAM but I did not do the super extreme type removal listed as an option, I just used programs and features for the ease of it. I was looking in some window about the stability of my PC, I forget which window it was or how to get to it, but it said the removal of Kaspersky 2013 was incomplete. Which is odd since I used the Kaspersky removal tool. Could any of this have to do with using an FX processor? Ah, the window I was looking at was the reliability monitor. -

I removed MBAM pro via the programs and features. Nothing has changed that I've noticed. Kas starts up the same as ever. In your post some things appeared optional. Is running that tool optional? -

Alright. Is there a tool I should use or should I use programs and features in the control panel to do it? -

If it's an operating system issue then you may be able to help. I have dealt with Kaspersky in the past, but it has not been that good at times. Last time we got to the point (this was before I switched to pure 3.0 from IS 2013) where the only thing left to do were trace logs, but apparently the scan that does that involves a certain risk of disabling my PC. So I avoided it. That was when they told me it was probably because IS 2013 used more resources. I have a new ticket for pure 3.0, but that hasn't been dealt with by them yet. They always immediately point to MBAM pro as the problem I should look at even though I have them both set to ignore each other. Or so I hope. How do I make sure that that is set up right? I've tried turning off the active feature of MBAM pro in the past with IS 2013 and no positive effect occurred. -

I did everything that was requested by Maurice, and hesitated only on the insane ESET scan. The only thing I didn't do was the thing that was posted after this had already be transferred to a different forum at the behest of the same person that posted that one thing. So, no, I have jumped through all the hoops. It is rather asinine to have a person do all that crap and then tell them that you can't finish because they won't do what you tell them to. -

The only suggestion I recall was to not run them together. I am not running them together. What specifically did I not follow? If contacting their support was the other one, I have already done that, many times. Oh, and I did the clean install, and used their removal tool, twice. And could some Admin delete the posts from these two people so that this thread can get back on topic? I'd also like to point out the fact that I did EVERY last thing I was asked to in the previous threads, and hesitated only on the ESET scan (justifiably so). So far the behavior I have gotten from those who've posted in my threads has been very manipulative and mean, with no reason for it other than the fact that, in your minds, somehow doubting the wisdom of the advice, in this case the ESET scan, of one of your members is an insult. To me this suggests you have much deeper problems than the fact that I did not run that one scan as that alone should not make you so insecure and pissy. Furthermore, why do you continue to post in my threads if I'm such a big bad horrible not minding questionable instructions person? I mean, really? You already know I've tried everything posted in the other threads and yet you say I haven't. If I haven't followed some of you recommendations (other than the ESET scan) I'd would really appreciate knowing exactly what those recommendations were. The only other one I see that I may not have done (I cannot remember) is the minitoolbox one. Nope, that one I didn't do. So, at this point that would be the only thing I actually didn't do, that I've seen so far, and that was just as I was going to the other forum on your recommendation (which you posted before the mini tool box thing) and you closed the thread. -

Um, dude the help desk referred me here for this issue after noting it was an operating system problem. So as far as you two needing to harass me for posting this here, you need to check your crap. Second off, I've been rather nice and all about all this. Apparently people like you don't get the message. Acting like an censored towards someone because they will not run a scan with their AV turned off is not acceptable behavior. I'm not looking for help from you egotistical types. I'm just looking for help from people willing to provide it without going bonkers because I don't want to run a scan, WHILE CONNECTED TO THE NET, with my AV turned OFF. Furthermore, to ask for me to produce data on whether or not the ESET scan has actually allowed PC's to become infected due to people having to turn off their AV to run it is disingenuous at best. You know plainly well that I, nor about anyone, would have the ability to provide that data. What I do have is the ability to reason. Point 1) Security suite is there to protect PC Point 2) Internet is very dangerous environment Conclusion) Reducing protection in very dangerous environment is not wise and leaves PC more open to infection Elaboration) Disabling protection in dangerous environment for twenty minutes to run scan, scan that would work just fine off line if they'd just allow you time to disconnect and turn off AV in between downloading updates and starting the scan, is insane. So, at this point it would be advisable to stop bugging me and leave room for people that are actually, capable (AKA willing) to help. -
http://forums.malwar...pic=123684&st=0 http://forums.malwar...l=&fromsearch=1 http://forums.malwar...l=&fromsearch=1 Those three threads provide a history on this if you want to know it. They're in order from oldest to newest. I was told to post a thread here about my issues. I cannot remember all the issues so please read the threads if you want ALL of them. This below is where I'm at now. This program (Kaspersky Pure 3.0), just like the 2013 version of internet security, is slow to start up. Last time Kaspersky told me it was because it's more of a resource hog. I just thought I'd bring this up while I bring up the next two problems. It also has a tendency, according to the logs, to start up, shut down and then start up again before staying on on system start up. The big problems: 1) Kapsersky Pure 3.0 just shut down yesterday for no apparent reason. It shut off, my action center warned me that it was off. And there appeared to be no way to get it to start working again so I quickly disconnected the power to my PC. I was not connected to the net when this happened. Why did this happen? 2) Now Kaspersky Pure 3.0 wanted me to send a packet of data about an application launch failure, but I cannot since it keeps saying "error sending package". I have run every scan Maurice told me to, even the insane Eset scan (which makes me feel like my PC is even more likely to be infected than it was before I ran it), and nothing was found except one out of place file... I think it was an out of place file. Also, just be forewarned that my asking for help here does not imply some sort of agreement that I will trust you blindly. If you want me to run a scan while connected to the net with my AV off, I will probably avoid it and think you to be off your rocker. That's just the way it is. Here's a list of some of the initial problems that are now rather moot as I no longer have Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 (I'm now using Kaspersky Pure 3.0) "I've had problems with Kaspersky 2013. 1) It's slow to start up (although now that I have webroot complete demo running paralell to it it starts up great. I know I'm not supposed to run them parallel, but it works. WTF?) 2) It doesn't always register start ups in the detailed reports 3) It just started using 100% of my CPU. It would start this a while after logging in and just keep using that 100%. (Of course this stopped when I installed the webroot demo) 4) Scans would get stuck (This stopped after I installed webroot complete demo.) And maybe some other stuff I forgot. I installed the webroot demo thinking I would delete kaspersky, but they appear to be working well together. It's bizarre."

Here's a new topic since you keep closing mine.

It's not rude to question something like being told to connect to the net with my AV off. That's just your ego being too big for its britches. -
(You people really need to work on your attitudes. Don't expect people to just blindly follow what you say, especially when it involves ridiculous things like turning off your AV while connected to the internet.) I did this risky scan without my AV on. I did disconnect from the internet about 10 minutes in (you never said I couldn't do that!) and it still worked even while disconnected. I should have disconnected as soon as it finished downloading the updates. I now feel that my computer is more likely to be infected than it was before. But oh well, ESET scanner has to have my AV of WHILE online... Anyway, here are the results. Should I do the eset online scan or not?
Deeter replied to Deeter's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
That is an insane way to design a program. I just tried to do what I said above, start it, update it, then disconnect, turn off my AV and run it, but it wouldn't allow that. It only has a stop button and that button stops it from scanning entirely so that you have to start the whole stupid thing over again. -

That scanner is downloadable, why do I have to be online to use it at all? Can I just disconnect from the net and turn off my AV and run it that way? -

Still, to turn of the AV WHILE connected to the internet seems insane at best. I did the scan. I did not turn off my AV to do it. I still can't get myself to do that. The scan finished. Below is the only log I found. I have attached an image of the results. ESETSmartInstaller@High as CAB hook log: OnlineScanner64.ocx - registred OK OnlineScanner.ocx - registred OK -

It seems to me thought that they should not have tools that require you to make your computer vulnerable to use.
