Hello, I am writing because I think my work laptop might be infected with a malware or a virus or both. It is because since the past week my laptop has started to slow down. It takes a minimum of 10 mins (sometime more) at windows start-up. Two weeks before it was working perfectly and used to start-up in 3-4 mins (ready to use). Another indication comes from google. I have my default search engine set to google and I use IE Explorer. Now whenever I search anything on google, it return me "Google Sorry....but your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now." This is unusual. I have a McAfee enterprise version installed. And eversince this started happening, I have noticed that the windows prompts in the start-up with a message in the message center that my Anti-virus software protection is turned off. This just started happneing as by default it used to start-up automatically and kept running silently in the background. I scanned with the MBAM using a quick scan option and it returned 0 infections. (Initially it got stuck twice while scanning but worked somehow) Scanned using McAfee antivirus but no infections. Still my computer lags initially for 10 mins minimum and sometimes even 15 mins during start-up. Am I being Paranoid?
