  1. I have now found out why MBAM disappears after 3 - 6 seconds and it is caused by trying to scan the memory. If I don't tick the settings memory box I am able to do a quick scan and a full scan of my 1st disk (c & f drives) and MBAM did not find any problems. I did have a problem with trying to scan the other drives as MBAM froze after 32 minutes and was not responding in the Task Manager. Also when I tried to end the task I got an error message The programme is being debugged, please resume it or close the debugger first. I had to reboot in the end. Not sure whether the freezing up of MBBAM and the debugging are related. Finally I would like to submit a Hijackthis report and would appreciate it if someone would take a look at it. 2. Just a little followup. I tried to update w2k with MS and it did the first updates no Probs but when it came to the malicious removal tool it downloaded okay, but did not install. When I terminated the site it said that it was waiting for a reply from me. tried the updates again and said that there were none. Not sure whether these are connected, but I have no problems running hijackthis or rootrepeal. Do you think that I might have a hardware problem?
  3. Hello # Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program. # At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to the following: * Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware * Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware # Then click Finish. # If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. # Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan. Okay I have followed the above steps a few times now and when I click "quick scan" it begins to scan and about 3 to 6 seconds into the scan the the screen disappears. I click on the mbam icon on the desktop and am informed Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is already running. I have tried changing the name before installing it, but I still get the same scenario. My OS is W2k with Antivir Virus, Comodo Firwall. I am using the free version of mbam. Thanks for your help
  4. Please note that I am using the free version.
  5. Hello I have been trying to run the latest copy of MAB and with the quick scan it runs from anywhere between 3 to 6 seconds before disapearing. I click on the icon and a message comes up saying the MAB is running? Is this the way it works and should I just leave to do whatever it is doing in the background? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling using a diferent name, but it still acts the same way. I have also tried to read through the posts, but have found noone else with this problem. OS w2k Thanks
