  1. Yes, the problem remains. I hope the logs help to resolve the issue. Thanks.
  2. The scans I refer to are Threat scans that MB itself runs according to its scheduler, i.e. late at night at about 02 45 hrs or at boot-up. As I said, typically a scan will check 300, 000 items in approximately 8 minutes upon boot-up or late at night. I tend to work during the night so may have a number of applications active when a scan starts, but it is MB which causes the issue described above. These scans are run with default options throughout. Lastly, I do not run "full drive scans on any regular basis."
  3. Hello Can anyone advise of there is anything I can do to prevent excessive CPU usage and overheating when MB runs a regular scan on my PC? Sometimes I have to terminate a scan because the CPU temperature approaches 80oC. Typically a scan will check 300, 000 items in approximately 8 minutes upon boot-up or late at night. I use MB 4.5.11.202, update version package 1.0.57785, component package version 1.0.1716. I believe these to be current versions and the product is, excepting this issue, appears to be working properly. My PC is running Windows 10. Thanks Martin O'Shea.
  4. Hello My newly installed Version 4.5 of Malwarebytes has just quarantined file: ...\TorBrowser\Browser\plugin-container.exe Can anyone tell me if this is genuine or not? I have been using Tor Browser for some time now. I am using Windows 10 and the incident above has the name malware.AI.1238850492 within Malwarebytes. The log of the scan is attached. Thanks Martin O'Shea. a.txt
  5. I have also been having this problem with Malwarebytes when using Chrome. On a given day, I might get up to a dozen notices from Malwarebytes telling me that it has blocked access to filtering.fastsearch.me, as seen in the graphic. The notices are not annoying but I would like to know if there is an issue with Chrome. I do not get the messages using Opera and possibly not using Edge, Firefox or Vivaldi. On other sites, I have seen reference to a program that should be removed via Control Panel: see https://www.pcrisk.com/removal-guides/17939-fast-search-assist-browser-hijacker for more information. My PC has no such program though, nor do I have any extension in Chrome called Fastsearch or similar. Scans of my PC using either Windows defender or Malwarebytes reveal nothing. Can anyone advise?
  6. I have had no issues with programs to date on the PC concerned but if the problem persists I will do this.
  7. This incident started with Malwarebytes 4.1.2 application being unresponsive in Windows (Win 10/2004 64bit) when launched from the desktop icon. The following messages started appearing in Event Viewer I originally posted an incident at https://www.tenforums.com/antivirus-firewalls-system-security/162162-malwarebytyes-refuses-open.html#post1989249 and have since used the Repair Tool to reinstall MB which is now open and scanning. But why was the product unresponsive in the first case? This is not the first time this has happened and normally a reboot cures the issue. But in this instance that was not the case. I attach the Repair Tool's logs for your perusal and would very much like to know the cause of the original problem in order to avoid a recurrence. By the way, the Repair Tool did not re-install MB upon reboot. Thanks Martin O'Shea.mbst-grab-results.zip
  8. This has not occurred. An un-install and re-install of MB 3.4.5 has not fixed the issue.
  9. Hello Can you please advise what has happened to the Windows context menu option for MB Premium 3.4.5? The option is selected in MB Premium 3.4.5 but the menu lack this. Thanks Martin O'Shea.
  10. Hello i have recently installed MB 3.3.1 on A windows 10 PC but I find that the context menu is unavailable. It is not appearing regardless of the setting below: How can this be resolved? Thanks Martin O'Shea.
  11. In any case, thanks to Zynthesist, AprilA and the other respondents to this thread.
  12. Can you explain what online-metrix.net is? Is it a legitimate web site or not? Why did MB show these messages all of a sudden?
  13. @Zynthesist: Can you explain what is going on? What is online-metrix.net? Is it a legitimate web site or not? Why has MB shown these messages all of a sudden?
  14. @AprilA: I also have a Windows 7 laptop networked with the Windows 10 PC. The laptop appears to be unaffected though. It is a rum do!
  15. @AprilA: I would be cautious here and tend to think it could be a false positive. If MB is off, then it will not report any messages. I still think it is Flash related. The sooner that program is consigned to the dustbin of history, the better.
  16. What I have found is a few web sites which refer to this online-metrix.net, e.g.: https://help.vtex.com/en/faq/how-to-set-up-the-device-fingerprint-for-braspagcybersource https://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?69149-Spybot-still-showing-spyware-after-attempting-to-fix-unsure-what-to-do Always it is to do with Flash. Maybe a recent update of Flash is thew cause of this issue? I have tried disabling it on my PC but without success. I wonder can it be removed from Windows 10?
  17. Hello I have Malwarebytes Premium 3.12 and when I try to access various web sites I find that messages are issued by MB concerning a website online-metrix.net. Two examples of the messages are in the graphics attached. I also attach a MB log file from one of the messages. The messages are produced by MB when I use several different browsers including Internet Explorer, Vivaldi and Chrome. Clearing browser caches have had no effect. From this I conclude that there is nothing specific to each browser but that there is a piece of adware, malware etc. on the PC. However, I have been unable to find out much about what online-metrix.net. Can anyone advise what MB knows about this site, malware etc.? I am using MS Windows 10 Creators Update. I had thought the messages were to do with Flash Player but having removed it, I am still getting the messages. Thanks Martin O'Shea. Log.txt
  18. Running a scan here and everything seems fine. Thanks for the excellent service.
  19. DFDWiz.exe is given a clean bill of health here: https://www.virustotal.com/file/867b8cbe2831f1782e1a77a6b5c71bdbcaee69e363d15691df3f9006abbd2f99/analysis/
  20. For what it's worth, scans of file: C:\Windows\System32\DFDWiz.exe By Microsoft Security Essentials and Norton Internet Security with current definitions don't detect anything.
