  1. Nada, I did a wipe of the drive, reinstalled from scratch via the HP discs and so far so good. I'll finish reinstalling tomorrow and make sure everything goes back in without the problem reoccurring and let you know. Thanks!
  2. Hey there, I've got the HP Recovery discs in front of me, 4 DVDs, but all they allow me to do is wipe the machine and reinstall it. There is no "setup.exe" like in the in-place install instructions. I don't have a retail Win7 disc and would prefer to avoid buying one if possible. At this point I'm okay with erasing this thing and reinstalling, but wanted to see if there was some way to do this using either the 'built-in' Recovery partition or Recovery DVDs. Thanks, Tolga
  3. Hey there, I am. Turns out we need recovery discs from HP to do the repair install (the machine didn't come with any media, and we called and they said it might not work from their repair partition) so we ordered them and I hope to give the repair install a go on Tuesday. Thanks for following up. I'll let you know how we make out! -Tolga
  4. Hi there Larry, you had us do this in an earlier step. At that time I also connected the tower directly to our modem and still had the same problems, so I'm pretty sure it's something to do with the computer. Thanks!
  5. Okay, deleted both devices and drivers and redownloaded them from another computer, and reinstalled after a restart. Still the same following reinstalling both the ethernet and wifi cards. Thanks!
  6. Yes. Though if it stays on the network long enough the other computers start having problems/timing out on the web. Somehow it's messing with our internet connection. Once we unplug the ethernet from the problem PC everyone else's connections start working again fairly quickly. Thanks, Tolga
  7. Re-did all from the top w/ CMD as Admin IPCONFIG /release done IPCONFIG /renew done IPCONFIG /flushdns done IPCONFIG /registerdns success regsvr32 netshell.dll success regsvr32 netcfgx.dll success regsvr32 netman.dll success Exit done Restarted ...and sadly same results, just spinning forever in the browser to try and get to MalwareBytes.org, MSN.com works, Yahoo loads, Google search works, but still never loads when you click on results, just "loading" infinitely/indefinitely, GMail works...but most other sites do not in both IE 8 and Firefox 9. Weird.
  8. When I get to IPCONFIG /registerdns the command window returns: The requested operation requires elevation, guessing I should repeat the steps after opening CMD with a right-click-->Admin privileges...
  9. Sorry, I meant IE 8. I do see IE 8 under the "Turn Windows features on or off", it has a checkbox next to it which is checked, but no option to uninstall.
  10. And I do not see IE 7 listed in the Win 7 Uninstall window, I checked both the first window and the "check installed updates".
  11. Alright, rolled back to IE 8, still no dice with much outside of MSN and Google, can't access MalwareBytes, org. Also, I logged in as the 'Test' admin user I created and have the same results there. I was hoping that maybe our user was just corrupt or something but no such luck. -Tolga
  12. So it actually lists IE 9 there, uninstalling that now. Should I roll back IE 8 to 7 after that as I don't recall ever putting IE 9 in?
  13. Okay, going to call it a day. The last thing I tried was to create a new Admin user to see if maybe the main user was screwed up somehow. 45min after logging in as the new user it is still showing a box/creating "personalized settings" and has been stuck most of the time on 'Browser Customizations' not sure if that's because it simply can't get online and needs to for that step or because of some larger issue. I'll leave it overnight and see where it gets. Best, Tolga
