  1. By after the first step I mean after the bcdedit step. I hit ThinkVantage, then I hit F11 when prompted and then it doesn't do anything, just goes back to booting up.
  2. After the first step it would take me to the appropriate screen and then when I hit F11 it just went back to booting up and then to the eventual error screen. So, I guess maybe it isn't the ThinkVantage button per se, but F11 doesn't seem to work appropriately afterward. I will try a few more times. If it still doesn't work should I do the fixmbr?
  3. Yeah, I don't think it works properly now. I didn't try anything else after it rebooted, but it already is goofed up. Oh well.
  4. Everything looked good until I restarted the computer and the error came up again.
  5. Rescue and Recovery offers the options of restoring files, hard disk, or OS from a backup (which I don't have) or complete factory restore. I have already unloaded all of my files to a removable hard drive.
  6. There is a ThinkVantage button I can press at startup and then I hit F11 and it takes me to Rescue and Recovery...
  7. I downloaded the Windows Vista Recovery iso from SystemDiscs the other day and have it on my USB at the moment. Is that what you are referring to?
  8. I ran another scan this morning because the first one did not include Avast definitions. Same results in the log as the one above. Attached is the mbr.dat file. MBR.zip

  11. OK. I think it is scanning now. Not sure how to tell though. I right-clicked, ran as admin then clicked report. Some of the boxes filled with values and it looks like there is activity based on the hard-drive green light flickering...

  13. Yes the first command gives me the message as well as the second. I can do just bcdedit /enum all without any problems but adding the log.txt portion gives me the message.
