  1. Done. I rarely shutdown, it sleeps mostly. I don't think power surges and updates mean a shutdown? Now wondering if the fast start setting (even from sleep was interfering with Samsung Settings (i've had issues since June. Now I know how to fix it, PIA tho)
  2. I plan to use control panel to delete. I remember years ago there was a window uninstall cleaner to use after (worked good for me) Do they still exist?
  3. I did purchase..I will get rid of PC matic 1st. Don't like it anyway.
  4. I also have a 3rd party AV. I should uninstall that before upgrading malwarebytes?
  5. I guess you can close this..Looks like the browser add on doing it's job. Ty for your help
  6. k, did all that. there was no select a threat scan button. Nothing was quaratnine. and cannot find a scan report

  10. What a frustrating afternoon...my backup to ext drive failed... The issue i had with SS settings (long story) I resolved. (uninstall reinstall).. my issue fixed on that (keyboard light stops working and this laptop 4mos old). Open FF, No more pop ups... i typed mikki.... in on FF, 1st time, 403 site forbidden. Get a block still on Edge & Chrome. No clue.. but I seen to be Ok.. for now.. TY. Computers are the bain of my existance... I have boss texting me about comp stuff at work.. ignoring.
  11. ok.. I'm doing a complete backup now to external drive (have a samsung issue and they want me to send for repair, ugh). I've backed up FF profile. I'll get back to you. TY.
  12. ok. ya i keep about 7 tabs open for reminders lol. I've read all instructions. If have to do all this I will (and backup my FF profile because I can't lose history and saved logins). Just wondering, before doing all this, would a system restore work?
  13. nice to know not in system.. how do i get the pop up to stop??
  14. Getting pop using Firefox 80.0.1.every time i go to a site. "Website blocked due to Trojan, mikkiload.com outbound 172.64.130.24. Users\xxxx\appdata\local\mozillafirefox\firefox.exe" Edge and Chrome fine unless I type in mikkiload.com and it is blocked by malwarebytes. Think this happened when I used a music download site (used in past) yesterday. Firefox went wonky. I had weird stuff popping up.. Not sure how I got rid of the mess. PcMatic did not show this threat . I installed MB after this happened (was a user years ago, why did I stop). Ran MB, only found 2 PUP, not the mikki.
  15. yesterday I uninstalled ie8 and it reverted back to ie6 and all the favorites worked. Before that was unable to print emails in outlook but can after uninstalling ie8. It was doing 105 windows updates when I left it yesterday-it's at another location. But i've had no response to what the attached files showed.
  16. ps, after mb removed/installed, i repaired super antispyware and it ran fine
  17. This was my original post to the general forum: All programs are missing from the start menu and cannot be viewed in my computer (run through usb drive). Avast scanning shows all programs being scanned. Ran cmd through task manager and only docs & settings showing on c drive. Tried to install MB from usb drive and get access denied, set up not complete please correct the problem and try again. Tried several times, one error popped up: mbam_error_expanding_variable (0,453),please report to support team. When trying to install Super Antispyware I am asked to modify, repair or remove so obviously it is in the system but I cant get to it to run it. Ran tuneup utilities and cc cleaner. All installed programs are listed in cc cleaner and windows install cleanup. This is a dell optiplex 330 running winxp sp3 Before reading the forum reply to come to the removal forum, the following was performed: 1. Ran mbam-clean and reintalled MB, yeah! Found 5 items and quarantined. 2. Ran superantispyware and cleaned the spyware 3. Ran unhide and all the folders fixed 4. Recreated all items on the start menu (control panel, run, etc) Ran dds as instructed in this forum for malware removal. Files attached Current problems: Some start program items are empty but the programs are on the c drive Links within programs (superanti spyware to update, logmein to log in) do not work In internet explorer, only home page will open and function. Favorties do nothing and typing in the address box results in the following: "The requested lookup key was not found in any active activation context". Cannot download IE 8 or access windows update. (downloaded from other comp to usb drive but it would not install; didn't write down the error) print screen and paste to notepad did not work. That's as far as I got today. attach2.txt dds2.txt
