  1. I always get this GetDefaultBrowser pop-up when I update Java. At the same time, annoyingly, the Java entry disappears from my Control Panel and the Java test page says no Java installed. After doing a lot of Googling I've found how to solve the problem. For me at least. Simple really. Go to the Java update page and update the same update again! I sometimes get a pop-up saying a file is corrupt and ignore it and carry on. It says I already have the update and do I want to update it again. Say yes. I say yes, and then, lo and behold, Java is back in control panel and Java tests ok on the test page. It's a right pain I know. Every time I get an update notification I think oh no here we go again. Hope this works for you.
  2. Seeing as RedCountyPete's initial post in this topic exactly matches the problems of a couple of other current topics here, namely that the 1.65 update has totally messed with people's Malwarebytes and that the symptoms of there being no icon and that protection cannot be enabled are identical, I saw no harm in dropping the suggestion into this topic of what worked for me. I only had the motives of helpfulness and efficiency in mind when I did so. I do take note of your admonition though.
  3. In another topic there is a solution that worked for me. Make sure in Services that Terminal Services is not disabled, and if so, set it to automatic and then reboot computer.
  4. Thanks a lot! This worked for me. My Malwarebytes had crashed after the 1.65 update and I kept getting pop-ups about corrupted database, so I uninstalled and reinstalled. But I still couldn't start protection. Came on here and immediately found your post! I'm writing this point out to others with the same problem that initially your solution didn't work and it needed a reboot for it to happen.
  5. Hello. For months I've had my Malwarebytes Pro scheduled to do a daily update followed by a flash scan and have got used to seeing the flash scan window pop up at 10 AM every day. I realised a few days back that I hadn't seen the flash scan doing its thing for a while and when I checked the logs saw that it had not been updating for several days, either since the New Year or the 1.60.0.1800 update. I can't be sure when because I ran mbam-clean.exe and re-installed and lost the logs. But even after the re-install it still adamantly refuses to do a daily update. What is odd though is that it WILL update when scheduled in Realtime and hourly. But NOT daily. Neither will it run a scheduled once only. Another small point: When I have the update and flash scan scheduled in Realtime or Hourly I only know that the update and scan have been successful by checking the log. Ie I no longer see the flash scan taking place. I don't know if this running silently is a consequence of the 1.60.0.1800 upgrade or another part of my fault/bug. Any ideas anyone?
