  1. Thanks you so much. I ran the Malware software you suggested (the real one, hopefully) and already the behaviour is much better on my PC and I do not see the weird IE popups. Best regards, .arun
  2. Hello, MysteryFCM, Thanks for the information. I will do as you suggest. Does this mean that I was conned into buying the software over the web? .arun
  3. Hello, (I posted this to the members group but since I am new to this and unsure where to post, I am reposting to the general group. Apologies for the dual posting) I was recently infected by a virus. The indication was that my home Windows-XP desktop became very very slow and once in a while, Explorer windows used to open up randomly and sometimes drag my CPU utilization to 100%. I downloaded XoftSpyse over the net and that said that I have a virus which I cleaned up and restarted but not much difference in my behaviour. So, I downloaded Malware's paid software (this was just a few days ago), Malware Removal bot version 11.3.0 as well as ErrorSmart and ran a quick scan and that gave me several instances of Vundo, Trojan, Sinowal etc. I cleaned them up as requested and restarted and then after a restart, Malware Bot started up again automatically and then it found the viruses/trojans/worms once again (but lesser instances) and asked me to clean them up, which I did but this time I was not asked to restart. With all this, my PC is still slow. Every so often an Explorer window pops up for advertisements etc. I NEVER use IE but always use Firefox. My PC is very slow still and I can barely open sites like Facebook or anything that has images. What is going on? It appears that there is something very persistent and it is probably in some of my startup files or something (I dont know much about this). I started my PC in the safe mode once and ran these checks but no change. I ran the deep scan which ran for a few hours but even after cleaning after that, the virus still shows that it is there. Please help! Thanks, .arun
