  1. We live and learn. Apologies for my mistaken opinion.
  2. What do you mean by "leftover drivers"? Malwarebytes is an application designed to protect your computer from malware, the latter being malevolent type of software. It doesn't need to communicate with the computer hardware and therefore, it doesn't use drivers.
  3. Do you have another security app running? If so, it may be blocking the Mbam installation. See the following post for details:
  4. Which file does it stop at? Can you take a screenshot of it when it stops and then upload that here please.
  5. Hi, It's advisable to disable the self-protection module before attempting to uninstall Mbam and then to quit it before proceeding further. The Quit option can be found by right clicking the systray icon. You'll see the option to quit at the bottom of the menu as shown in the screenshot. You can try the workaround on the following site which explains how to rename the mbae.sys file which is the same as the one shown in your screenshot. http://techdows.com/2016/12/fix-malwarebytes-3-0-installation-mbae64-sys-error.html
  6. Please read the guidelines in the following post on how to report a new issue.
  7. See this link which explains what you have to do to report a new problem:
  8. The easiest way of achieving that goal is to turn off Malwarebytes notifications via Windows Control Panel | Notification area icons. Click the dropdown menu and you'll see the option. Here's a screenshot of it.
  9. What kind of image d'you have on the desktop at the moment? Assuming you have Windows 8.1 or 10, right click a blank part of the desktop and click Personalize. In the menu which opens, click the link to Desktop Background. This will take you to the folder where the current image is located. If there isn't any other image at that location which you'd like to use for your desktop, click the Browse button at the top and then navigate to another location where you keep your pictures and then checkmark the one you want. In the Picture position underneath all the images on the left, choose Fill to have the image spread across the whole desktop. If you don't want the picture to change every 30 minutes which is the default, remove the checkmark for the box where it says Shuffle. Finally. click the Save Changes button.
  10. Well, in my particular case, rescheduling scans to every four hours seems to have done the trick I'm pleased to say.
  11. Definition version numbers are only shown in the MBAMSERVICE.log file as far as I know. It opens in Notepad by default and there's nothing to stop you perusing it. Here's a screenshot showing the most recent update versions.
  12. Please follow the guidelines in the following post so that we can try and assist you with your issue:
  13. Clicking the "OK" button where one exists is sufficient. Which settings are you trying to change?
  14. I had the same problem myself and resolved it by installing the December .NET Framework Security and Quality Rollup which you can download from the Microsoft Catalog site: http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB3205402 Since you have the x64 flavor of Windows 7, you want the first one in the list (133.3MB). Make sure you allow popups because when you click the Download button on the right hand side it launches a popup which contains the actual download link. You don't have to use Internet Explorer anymore since Microsoft removed the ActiveX control to enable downloads using any browser.
  15. Staff seem to disagree with you regarding your statement that Mbam 3.0 isn't an AV.
  16. Hi, Try the fix suggested here: http://techdows.com/2016/12/fix-malwarebytes-3-0-installation-mbae64-sys-error.html
  17. I'm having a similar problem with Mbam not running on time or within an hour of the scheduled time even though the computer was left on for several hours after the scheduled time had elapsed. I've just checked the MBAMSERVICE.log and ran a search using the following string: Starting a Threat scan, clientID = ScanScheduler The entries that turned up (after installing 3.0.5) were dated respectively 12/19/2016 at 17:37:21.446 and 12/22/2016 at 17:45:28.078. I installed 3.0.5 on December 19 and the scan was scheduled to run daily at 4:00pm. I'm not bothered about the 1½ hrs extra it took before running, but why would the application wait three days before running again? And now, just as I'm typing this post, a Threat scan has just launched. So it looks like Mbam has decided for itself that a 'daily scan' means that it should run every three days. Obviously this isn't very satisfactory given that malware these days is very sophisticated and could cause havoc on the system in the intervening period when the scanner wasn't running like it's supposed to. I copied the respective log entries which you'll find here: 12/19/16 " 17:37:21.446" 194292218 07ec 0a0c INFO ScanControllerImpl mb::scancontrollerimpl::Scanner::StartScan "Scanner.cpp" 472 "Starting Threat scan, clientID = ScanScheduler" 12/22/16 " 17:45:28.078" 188105859 0774 0adc INFO ScanControllerImpl mb::scancontrollerimpl::Scanner::StartScan "Scanner.cpp" 472 "Starting a Threat scan, clientID = ScanScheduler" 12/25/16 " 16:38:35.859" 443293640 0774 0adc INFO ScanControllerImpl mb::scancontrollerimpl::Scanner::StartScan "Scanner.cpp" 472 "Starting a Threat scan, clientID = ScanScheduler" I've changed the scheduled scan to run hourly every four hours now to see whether that makes any difference.
  18. Hi denzele, Two things. When you upload a log to the forum, you should switch the format to ZIP instead of RAR. I've attached a screenshot to show you where to find the setting. You haven't uploaded a log file, but the application as per the second screenshot. To upload the MBAMSERVICE.LOG, hit Windows key + R to open the Run command and then copy/paste the following path and click OK. You'll find it there. C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\MBAMService\logs
  19. As you've already observed yourself, installing an alternative antivirus solution will disable Windows Defender. That's by design since two AV running on the same machine will cause system instability.
  20. Try using the Dashboard to check for updates by clicking the icon I've indicated with the red arrow in the screenshot.
  21. Open an elevated command prompt and run: sfc /scannow to check Windows for corruption. If no corruption is found you'll see the message shown in the screenshot. If corruption is found, but the tool cannot repair it, copy/paste the following command for the same elevated command prompt and hit Enter: DISM.exe/Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth DISM needs Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 to run by the way. If you only have Windows 7, you can still run System File Checker, but not DISM.
  22. Why do you think that way? Why don't you trust Mbam? What evidence are you placing your opinion on? Please provide the URL if citing another site's opinion of Mbam 3.0 Did Mbam fail to protect your own system when it was under attack? When was that?
  23. Can you do the following please. In the Dashboard menu on the right hand side, click the icon I've indicated with a red arrow in the screenshot. Mbam should attempt to download the latest update manually. If it gets stuck again, upload your MBAMSERVICE.LOG file so that we can can a look at what's happening with the installation. You can find the log file by hitting Windows key + R and then copy/paste the following path and click OK: C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\MBAMService\logs
  24. You haven't provided enough information I'm afraid. Are you using Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10? Which browser are you using and which version?
  25. I noticed the name "McAfee" in your screenshot, so I deduce from that that you have another AV running on your machine besides Mbam. Two antivirus applications on the same computer will always be problematical since each detects the other as potential virus activity and attempts to prevent it. Your best bet will be to uninstall McAfee, preferably using their own removal tool: https://service.mcafee.com/webcenter/portal/cp/home/articleview?articleId=TS101331
