  1. Since I use MBAM as a stand-alone app and not as an active scanner, I tried a re-install. I did a clean install (uninstalling previous version thru windows add/remove programs then running MBAM_clean), then reinstalled the latest version of MBAM. All is well! I DID turn off my AV (Avast) during the install as this is recommended. I've never had to do this with any other software installation, but since it was recommended, I did so. All is fine again... thank you to MBAM support forum! I ran a quick scan, came up clean, re-enabled avast, ran another MBAM scan and all is fine. Thanks to the forum support. I appreciate it.
  2. Maurice, Thanks for your reply. I reinstalled the latest MBAM and all is well. Since I use MBAM as a standalone app and not as an active scanner, it works fine with my free version of ZA (ver: 7.0.302.000). Before doing a "clean install" (after uninstalling previous ver, and running MBAM_clean), I DID turn off my AV (Avast) as it was recommended. I've never had to do this with any other software installation, but since it was recommended, I did so. All is fine again... thank you! I ran a quick scan, came up clean, re-enabled avast, ran another MBAM scan and all is fine. Thanks for your response and forum support. I appreciate it. As I used to be a moderator for McAfee help forums many years ago (when McAfee had a good product (version 7)), I know how help forums can make or break the acceptance of AV software. Thanks again.
  3. OS: Win-XP (Media Ctr)(SP-2)

    FW: ZoneAlarm-7.0.302 (free)

    AV: Avast 6.0.1367

  4. I had posted in another thread after searching the forum for MBAM crashes on start up. Then after reading the forum more, I found this very long thread about this very issue. As I only use MBAM as a stand-alone app and not in protected mode, I guess I'll just leave MBAM uninstalled until they find a fix to work with ZA. Or maybe I should download the previous version 1.5. I did an un-install thru Windows 'add remove', then ran the 'mbam clean' (rebooted). My system: WinXP Media Player (SP-2) (can't install SP-3... long story) 1 Gig ram ZoneAlarm... but older vers. 7.0.302.000 Avast 6 (latest... updated today) Hope they find a fix or work around. I've used MBAM since 2008 when it found and deleted a nasty that McAfee couldn't handle (been on avast ever since). Thanks MBAM team.
  5. I'm getting the same exact problem as the OP. This morning just thought I'd run (I think it was ver 1.5 but not sure) Malwarebytes. It suggested an update saying the database hadn't been updated in 25 days. Then it updated the program too, then data base again. Don't know what ver. as the new program won't run at all. I get the 'Malwarebytes has encountered a problem and must close... send report?) like pictured above. I'm also running XP, but SP-2 as I can't go to SP-3 due to hardware installed (long story). I've tried re-booting with same result. I've used Malwarbytes since 2008 with much success. It's a great product and would like to continue using it. I have ZoneAlarm as FW; Avast 6 as AV. Thanks.
