  1. I just updated to 1.45 and I know in 1.44 I had nothing in the Ignore list but now I have this HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run entered, Any reason why this has happened and what it means? Thanks

    AVG9.0

Also seeing as MBAM found something I would post a HJT log in that part of the forum just to make sure that your system is now free and clean of nastys
  3. The three I use the most are Adblockplus,NoScript and WoT all are great and the only down side I would mention is the as WoT is user updated it can be prone to bias one way or the other so it is best to read all the reviews before visiting a site you are not sure of and clicking the "request a comment" button the the page to help get as much input as possible.
  4. That sounds really complicated to the point that a reformat would seem a simpler solution and just skip the SFC repair Lets hope I never have to do this and thanks for all the info Exile
  5. It doesn't? I thought that if scannow repaired files that it deletes files as well? files as in any updates to the OS that have been made since the first install, Isn't that what slip streaming is meant to prevent or have I got my wires crossed?
  6. Great I thought the same, yeah the slip streaming thing looks way beyond what I could do, would just letting windows updates run work? or would that leave out things such as SP2?
  7. Wow I read all that and its really complicated! My Vista so far when I have scanned has never asked for the CD so I presume after reading those that it means it has not found anything it needs to repair so far.. Looking in "Computer" I do not find C:\I386 but using voidtools "Everything" and just typing in "I386" it bring up 51 accounts of that one in java under the folder "i386" and the other 50 in the folder marked "I386" but the path to those are in the system32/driverstore/filerepository and winsxs\x86 so I am not sure that that is what I am looking for?
  8. I have used the sfc/scannow a few times in the recent past but I noticed on this forum that people mention that you should run it with the disc (Install?) in the driver, Is this right? The time I have ran it im sure that it has not found anything to fix but if it does does it need the disc to repair from? Is it the same for CHKDSC too? Thanks
  9. WMP seems to work perfectly for my limited needs.
  10. The celofot was a false positive, nothing to be alarmed about it was not a virus, just a mistake and nothing to do with itunes either as I got the same warning and do not have it installed. Thanks alot MBAM team for your prompt action!
  11. I tried to ignore it but it disapeared and I had to close MBAM down, looking in the logs there was non generated for this either! I updated and scanned and it found nothing! Now I can go to sleep its 1.20am here, that will teach me to scan before bedtime
  12. So how do I restore it then? Do I click ignore or untick the box? I have never restored a FB before sorry.
  13. So it was a FP? How then do I restore it? the only options I can see are to ignore it or to delete it
  14. cant post the defs as I do not know what to do with the screen asking me what to do with this item, I had scanned just 5 mins before I made the post on here if that helps.
  15. I have it in my results so if it is confirmed as a FP what do I do to restore it? do I "ignore" it or untick it? or something else?
  16. Ah its ok, What ever happened was weird, the scan before that one was blank it turns out, so something blanked it and possibly wiped the hosts file too (at the time I couldnt remember how to find and read the file if I remember correctly), it was nothing malicious it seems though so what ever it was was a glitch that reset my SB, and so I got that message as it must have thought it was a clean install. It happened on a 24-48 time period were my computer crashed 6-7 times and nothing was in the event viewer so I have no clue why it happened but all scans turned out fine and I was able to update the hosts again and that issue has not come back, touch wood.
  17. I'm sure thats not true with all free AV's, I use AVG 9.0 and although we have had our differences its surf shield has definitely saved me a few times.
  18. Mountaintree16 I believe you want http://www.speedtest.net/ to test your up and down load speed Thats my result, its pretty poor, also which sever you pick can also affect it, I would test it 5 times for a average result.
  19. Ah YoKenny Durham is beautiful, Must have been a great place to grow up I myself am a Geordie!
