  1. I'm not sure you read my entry above yours, but the app is fully closable by simply quitting it. And that should be it's normal state. Only have it open when you are doing a manual scan, check the logs or change a preference setting However, there are two associated processes that run in the background that cannot be easily prevented from running.

  2. Hi. If you purchased subscription from the Malwarebytes website, the subscription starts from the day of purchase. If your purchase is at a retail store, of a boxed program, the subscription starts when you do the first activation after the installation. In any event, you can see the detail about your subscription term on the Malwarbytes MyAccount portal website. https://my.malwarebytes.com/en/login

  8. Hi @nestrada and @leobando, My research team confirmed that C:\ProgramData\Apple\Installer Cache\Apple Mobile Device Support 12.0.0.1039\AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi was a false positive that is already resolved. You should be able to restore the file from quarantine and you shouldn't get anymore detections on it Now I'm just waiting on logs from @leobando to confirm if C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Shared\Packages\Microsoft.Net.Compilers.2.6.1.nupkg was also a false positive.

  9. There's another point I thought I should add about how Malwarebytes does things differently from most other entities in the PC security industry. While many major AV vendors keep massive databases of threats, often going as far back as the early days of Windows 95 and/or 98, Malwarebytes instead focuses on relevant threats that can actually infect your system today on the net, also known as 'in-the-wild' threats. This difference in threat targeting means that those databases I referred to that are stored in memory to optimize performance and reduce CPU cycles are much smaller than the typica

You can contact them via their Contact page at https://www.binisoft.org/contact or by emailing support@binisoft.org. You may also find the user guide for Malwarebytes Windows Firewall Control helpful too. You can get that here: https://www.binisoft.org/pdf/guides/Malwarebytes-WFC-User-Guide.pdf

  12. Hiya Moritz and welcome to Malwarebytes, If you`ve wiped and reloaded windows you should be ok, to be sure run the following to check... Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop. Alternative download option: http://www.techspot.com/downloads/6731-farbar-recovery-scan-tool.html Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system (32 bit or 64 bit). If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  17. The malwarebytes application is never active when quit. There is a Malwarebytes Agent process open in the background to display and process selections from the MenuBar (and possibly other functions) and an RTProtectionDaemon open in the background that does accomplishes Real Time Protection and App Blocking if enabled. But neither of them are the actual application.

  19. The site has been whitelisted. Please allow 15-30 minutes for changes to take effect. Reputation is basically looking at the traffic volume going to a website. Low volume ends up equating to a reputation block. Sites associated with malware will always have low volume, but few sites with reputation blocks are associated with malware...hence the false positives.

  24. Just do not go off on your own just now. Hold on until I do some additional research. Meantime though it seems to me we need to just "look" to see what partitions there are on the main drive of this system. To start with, we need to get this machine rebooted back into the Windows Recovery Enviroment off of the usb-flash that has the Media Created USB. So be sure to have that special USB inserted in the USB slot. Then just flip the Power Off to the pc. Wait for one minute. Then Power ON and let the machine boot off the USB. It will show the special screen off

  25. I do not wish nor need to do anything with that, so you know. If you want to have it analyzed, there is a website that will do that. Can you please go to Virustotal website ( which is a site that many security companies use to upload and check files for potential malware. The site uses multiple search engines from several companies). Go to the link https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload You will see Choose file button. Click that as a first step. You will then see a dialog grid from Windows. . As to the Windows 10 setup with the Media Creation tool, had you booted

  26. Hi @yardbird, Are you still having issues? It sounds like what you are experiencing is browser related ads. This is caused by the way most browsers handle redirections executed by javascript code. Most browsers don't do a great job of preventing these redirects, which also cause ad pop-ups. Advertising affiliates are aware of this, and exploit this weakness. Even if an advertising affiliate is shut down for using this exploit, they just come back with a different affiliate id and are right back at it. The best way to block these pop-ups are to try a different browsers

You will then see a dialog grid from Windows. . You can save all your personal files, documents, personal folders to offline media. As far as doing a clean install of Windows 10, there are good guides online. A Windo

  32. I'm not sure about a "service" - that to me, means online backup which I am personally against. Backing up perhaps "some" critical files that I've encrypted on my own, before upload possibly. But as a sole resource for my backups, never. I want complete and full access to all 16TB of my data and I don't want to have to spend 2 weeks downloading it again if wanted or needed. Do you need backups? Yes, unless you simply just don't care about losing your data. Microsoft themselves deleted user data on one of their Windows Updates a year or so back. Malware today often tries to encrypt yo
