Malwarebytes System Tray Icon Missing
MadDemon64 replied to MadDemon64's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Well, I finally managed to get around to use the Malwarebytes Support Tool. It fully uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of Malwarebytes, and much to my dismay it failed spectacularly. It didn't even go one day with the self-protection module activated without having the Malwarebytes tray crashing on startup.- 4 replies

Well, I've got some bad news. After turning on self-protection and restarting my computer, the tray disappeared again. And I have the latest version too.

So, even though the tray crashed, it eventually reappeared? But only when you had self-protection set to early start?

I've been thinking...if turning off self-protection prevents the system tray from crashing, what would enabling self-protection early start do?

Well, I regret to inform you that, after turning on the self-protection modules for 3.4, the problem went away, but after updating to 3.5, it came back.

RAM usage - what is going on?
MadDemon64 replied to Malwarebytes's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Don't uninstall it. Just restart your computer (hard reset if you have to), and as soon as your computer starts up, open Malwarebytes, uncheck the option to have it start at startup, and then either restart your computer again or close it from task manager or the notification icons area. -

Thank you for that. I needed a laugh after this problem. -

Given the number of people who have this problem and how it came seemingly out of nowhere, I'm guessing yes. -

I noticed my computer was slowing down and was scared I caught a virus. After I finally shut it down (after waiting ten minutes for it to open a folder) I noticed Malwarebytes was taking up all the RAM. I'm morbidly glad I'm not the only one with this issue. I am not going to use malwarebytes until this issue is resolved. -
I would say the test was a success. The tray has yet to crash once after disabling self-protection.

Well, it's almost been three weeks since I disabled self-protection, and the tray has yet to crash once. I think we have, with only hesitant certainty, found the cause.
