  1. Well, lesson learned. I did not know that MBAM was only for non-email threats, nor that it did not scan email.
  2. If the case were so simple, why would I need Malware Bytes?
  3. First clue is that the email was from Me to Me. I get a lot of phone scam calls spoofing my Caller ID, too. However, when I printed out a copy of the scam email, the re-formatted message was from "silent inject" to Me with no subject. In the body all that was there was "90% Payload running... and the notation "Mutex_id:1WR25FFXHHHF" . This bothered me because I thought it may refer to a process running that was intended to lock up my PC by overloading the CPU. I am not an IT professional and need all the help I can get.
  4. Thanks, Dave. That was helpful, especially the link to haveibeenpawned.com . I use strong passwords (LastPass member for several years) and do not reply to strange emails. However, it is getting harder for me to sort out the fake threats, and that's why I posted this message. I am 76 and getting more feeble by the day , so I rely on Malware Bytes. Perhaps too much.
  5. I came home today after being away for a while and found a ransomware email on one of my PCs. Since Malwarebytes did not block it, I assumed it was a fake threat. I ran a threat scan and got nothing. The email was from Me to Me, and the subject line read [Malware Delivery Team] and more. The hacker claims to have hacked my router and injected some code into its firmware, going on to some length to try to convince me this was actually done. I didn't believe it and deleted the email and all instances of it from my PC. My question is why wouldn't Malware Bytes pick up on the fake email ransomware and quarantine it? I thought most malware came in through the email client. I cleaned up the fake ransomware on my own. I would hope Malware Bytes would be of help.
  6. Ran the /manage switch for mb-clean, and it reports finished. However, attempts to install MBAM 3 still results in a do-loop. I get the setup wizard, language selection, terms (I agree), re-start required, and then on re-boot, same-o, same-o.
  7. I ran the FRST pgm and then ran mb-check again. Attached is the report. mb-check-results.zip
  8. I will if you tell me how to run mb-clean /managed. When I select mb-clean it auto-runs without any allowance to add a modifier.
  9. I had a MBAM Corporate version on my desktop due to expire tomorrow and discovered it would not let me install the new Premium version which Support says I should use. I found it would not uninstall the Corporate version so I started a support ticket and was advised to run the Clean up tool first, which I did. MB-clean did not uninstall all MB programs (MBAE icon remained on the desktop) yet no programs but the MB MSI was listed in my Control Panel. The Control Panel would not remove the MSI pgm (which seems to have a path to a temp file for Endpoint Security). Now I am without MB protection because MBAM 3 will not install. Every time I attempt to run the MBAM 3 Premium program it appears to finish the installation and asks to re-start, which I allow, but then on re-boot, goes through the same routine ad infinitum. Also, interestingly, when I attempt to run the MBAM installation, it removes the mb-clean report, so I can't attach it but I ran the mb-check pgm and am including its results. mb-check-results.zip
  10. Thanks for the explanation, Dyllon. I also received an email from AndyPP that brought my attention to an exception in the Terms of Use for Home version. I was unaware that I could compliantly use the Home version in my small business. Wish I had known this. I am a one-man professional shop (and one-woman assistant ) with less than 10 devices that need MWB protection. I have been a MWB customer for many years but did not see the exception clause in the TOS until now. I was under the impression that I was not to use the Home version for my business PCs, hence I bought the Corporate version for a recently acquired workstation PC. I run Windows 10 Professional on all my devices. I do not use Windows Server. I think the Home 3 version would suffice for my purposes... any chance I could switch the Corporate version over to the Home 3?
  11. I just got an email notice today that an update is available for Management Console 1.8. I don't use the Management Console. I keep getting the feeling that I bought an orphan product, since all other MWB products get upgrades but not my business version. What's up with that? It appears to me that you support enterprise clients but little guys like me are left dangling in the wind. I have 3 separate MWB programs running on my PC: MWB Anti-Malware, MWB Anti-Exploit, and MWB Anti-Ransomware. How about consolidating these programs and providing auto updating so that I stay current?
