I have done much trouble shooting with Malwarebytes support using both this forum and also their regular support via email.

Long story short, here is the temporary work-around.  Hoping they can resolve this soon.

1) Remove "Killer Network Manager" from your "C:\Users\ (User Name) \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup" folder.

2) Disable "Qualcomm Atheros Killer Service V2" within Services.  Depending on your Killer network card and software, it may not be exactly like that but it should still be listed as "Qualcomm".

3) Restart your computer

Don't worry.  This does not disable you network card.

Hi:

@Phantasm and @smsmasters:

No problem on my laptop with killer network card and MBAM.
(Moreover, as you can from the fact that this is the first reply in a topic started >6 weeks ago, this doesn't seem to be a commonly reported issue?)

Each computer is unique -- problems that sound the same often are not.
So, the issue might be more specific to some particular platforms.

@ Phantasm  -- if you get to step 2 (diagnostic logs), please post them back here as attachments in this topic.
@ smsmasters -- if you need help & need to post logs, please start a NEW, SEPARATE topic using the cjfj.png button.
The staff and experts will be able to more easily provide both you and the OP with individual help to get you both up and running.

Thanks for your patience and understanding,

Phantasm and I both have the Killer Network Card e2200 so that is something both systems have in common.

I've reinstalled Windows 8.1 on three computers, the computer with the e2200 is the only system having issues with MBAM. Also note that when the same PC was on Windows 7 the same issue existed.

The latest version of MBAM is installed on all computers.

So to me it seems the issue is with the e2200 and MBAM.

@daledoc1 what is your exact killer network card? I assume it's not the e2200.

Don't have a clue how to make a command box, but found the services list thru Task Manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL).  YAY!

Now the question is, what I am deleting and what I am disabling?  I can't find anything that matches that description - no Qualcomm, no Killer, and no idea what I am looking for!  Sigh... :-)

Hello 3cedars:

This post supplements step 2) in Phantasm's post #1 above if you were able to perform step 1).

  • Open your system's Control Panel.
  • Open Administrative Tools.
  • Double-click Services.
  • Single left-click the Extended Tab near the bottom of the window.
  • Left-click the Name column to place the services in alphabetic order.
  • Scroll to, and double-click, the Qualcomm Service.
  • Change the Startup type to Disabled.
  • Left-click Apply.
  • Reboot your computer.

Please reply to this topic with your results.

Thank you. :)

Hello everyone,

This is a simpler fix than the above and worked for my laptop with the Killer e2200:

For Windows 7:

  • Navigate to Start --> Control Panel
  • Click Network and Internet then Network and Sharing Center
  • Click Change Adaptor Settings
  • Right-click the Killer wireless connection and select Properties
  • Under the Networking Tab, uncheck Qualcomm Atheros Bandwidth Control
  • Click OK
  • Reboot

This resolved the conflict for me.

Hi, @screen317!  (Long time, no see!)g7dwuYP.gif

IIRC there have been a couple of threads about this same problem, such as this one:

https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/145846-anything-internet-related-crashing-with-malwarebytes-20-malwarebytes-175-fine/#entry814221

(I think there were a few others, too.)

I had "Enable Bandwidth Control" disabled by default on my laptop, so I never personally saw the issue.

But, by all accounts, un-ticking or disabling that option does resolve the issue.

Cheers!

I don't usually revive older topics, but thought in this case I should.

We've tested the latest drivers released by Rivet Networks (makers of the Killer networking products) and are happy to confirm that they've implemented a fix so that you can now use both Malwarebytes Web Protection and Killer Network Manager's Bandwidth Control alongside each other with no issues.

You can download the latest Killer drivers from this site. http://www.killernetworking.com/support/driver-downloads

sorry to say but this doesn't fix my issue, driver not compatible with my motherboard nor does the driver work correctly. i had multiple tickets open up with 3 different  specialist and 1 forums staff currently from Malwarebytes since "September 6,2014" over a year now. We also try this way and it doesn't work.
